Regional Manager Corrections Healthcare

This role serves as the manager responsible for the delivery of correctional healthcare contract services and supervision of personnel & liaison services within multiple facilities. Monitors and maintains all aspects of operations for assigned region. Provides feedback to management team to assist in making business decisions. Ensures that services are compliant with the contract, NCCHC, ACA, PBNDS , state and other accrediting bodies as applicable to the facility; and established company goals, objectives, policies and procedures.


  • Works with site managers to ensure that services are provided in accordance with contractual requirements and accreditation bodies. 
  • Develops and implements nursing policies and procedures that reflect applicable standards.
  • Assist site management with the development and monitoring of CQI activities.
  • Ensures that all site deliverables are completed and forwarded monthly-to include CQI audits, monthly statistics, MAC and staff meeting minutes, pharmacy inspections, policy updates etc.
  • Meet with the institutional authority or his/her designee on a regular basis to optimize healthcare services within the institutions.
  • Attend monthly MAC and CQI meetings.
  • Oversees the management of the financial performance of the contract site by reviewing  monthly pharmacy, lab, X-ray bills and report discrepancies, outliers to the management team as needed.
  • Interviews, hires, evaluates, and submits recommendations for corrective action for site management staff.
  • Orients, trains, and supervises site managers.
  • Provides written documentation to support corrective action to the corrections administration.
  • Monitors and assists with development of quality assurance program.
  • Develops and implements nursing policies and procedures that reflect applicable standards.
  • Supervises the utilization or resources including equipment, supplies, and man-hours. Reports budgetary deviations to correctional administration.
  • Supervises the collection of data for health services and other reports.
  • Adheres to safety and security policies.
  • Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
  • Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
  • Approves non-formulary medical and office supply orders.
  • Ensures that extraordinary pharmacy costs are reported for tracking.
  • Ensures that patient safety issues include, M&Ms are addressed, reviewed and reported to management and legal as needed.
  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection of site management candidates with the Human Resources Department and Corrections Administration.
  • Ensure that a proper orientation is provided to all new site managers.
  • Mentors and serves as a resource for site managers.
  • Approve all Site manager time records and ensure that payroll/reimbursement information is forwarded to central office within the established time frames. Completes site payroll in the absence of the manager.
  • With assistance from Human Resources, enforce the progressive discipline policy, including termination of employees. 
  • Report monthly to the Operations Director regarding:
  • Budget variances
  • Progress of the Operational Plan.
  • Communications with client representatives.
  • Pertinent changes affecting the contract.
  • Activities of all health services department.
  • Operational reports. 
  •  Attend all required staff meetings.
  •  Makes recommendations for the improvement of services to the Operational Director.
  • Provides onsite coverage in the absence of the HSA/DON as needed.
  •  All other duties as assigned.


  • RN with Bachelors degree in Nursing is preferred. 
  • A minimum of 10 years in nursing with 3 years of correctional healthcare management at the HSA or higher level preferred.
  • Must possess sound decision-making and critical thinking skills.
  • Must attend and participate in continuing education consistent with the requirements of the State Board of Nursing. 
  • Must update and maintain skills and knowledge related to correctional health.
  • Must be able to pass a security background clearance check.
